What is AWANA?

Awana is an international, bible-centered ministry providing clubs and programs for children 3 years old through high school. AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed from 2 Timothy 2:15.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
2 timothy 2:15

A key focus of Awana is learning the bible through scripture memorization, along with bible lessons, prayer, singing, games, and relationship building with other children and adults. Waynesboro Church of Christ is excited for the opportunity to serve the children of the church and community through this ministry.

Our Programs

Cubbies

3- to 5-year-olds
celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers (3- to 5-year-olds) by helping them develop respect for God, His Son, and His Word.
In Awana Cubbies, kids learn fundamental truths about God, Jesus, and salvation through fun handbooks, picture teaching cards, and more.
These flexible lessons, awards, games, and teaching plans come together to create a welcoming space for kids to learn and grow.

Sparks

K - 2nd Grade
The Awana club for children in kindergarten through second grade takes kids a step deeper into God’s Word while giving boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. Sparks club meetings combine learning with fun to encourage kids to learn verses and complete assignments throughout three handbooks.

Truth & Training  (T&T)

3rd - 6th Grade
The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of Awana to teach third- through sixth-grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. By the time a child has completed T&T, they will have: learned 310 verses, discovered the Bible’s response to some of life’s questions, and completed missions projects that help them see the world through God’s eyes.

Trek

7th - 12th Grade
This program challenges students in the 7th - 12th grade to wrestle with the three most important questions they’re asking in middle and high school:
  • Who am I?
  • Why am I here?
  • Who’s with me?
By allowing students to dive deep into the Scriptures and answer these questions for themselves we allow them to own their faith and discover what they actually believe
